My name is Martin Clarke and I do nothing more than create art that imitates life. From Stone Mountain to wherever this takes me, I'll continue to shine light on what we don't want to see, challenge the social norm, and question the taboo. 1998 was a crazy year for the runway and this is considered one of Alexander McQueen's most twisted collections, but also most historical. I love the way fashion and atmosphere can put you in a different mindset.

If anyone just knows the gist of what NIGO has done in fashion knows how major this is. With this new appointment at KENZO I think we start to see high fashion take a new shift in what the norm is. We see streetwear influence take a priority in design and face runways from NY to Paris. Excited to see what's to come

As creatives I feel as if sometimes we put ourselves in a box of what we can and can't do. We have our own personal styles and preferences, but whos to say you cant be more. Whos to say you can't transfer your talents to new fields. To loosely quote the legend himself, "that's the thing about design.....I can design the object in the middle of the room or I can design the room it's actually in"-Virgil Abloh

Going into my new submissions the theme of this collection and those ideas are prevalent in my designs. It was challenging yet refreshing to do a few "formal" pieces and taking some new takes on classic structures.

One of my favorite things about being a designer here is that I now have the ability to go back into my portfolio and bring to life some pieces that wouldn't see the light of day. With all the help here I can get the guidance and resources I need to actually make it happen.

I'm super excited for you all to see the jacket I'm working on for my cut and sew submissions. I take a more abstract approach on a typical jean jacket along with some some historical pictures and play on words. My first source of inspiration for this piece was definitely some recent Human Made pieces
